Changing Normal
Our normal has now become abnormal, and the abnormal has now become normal. This generation is the first generation with more overweight and sick people than well people. In today’s America, if you’re fit and healthy with a normal body composition, you’re radically different.
Patients who make healthy changes often receive very interesting comments from friends and family. People will almost never tell you that you’re too fat, but how many times have you heard someone comment when you begin to get your life under control and lose the unnecessary weight, “You look so skinny. Are you okay? Are you sure you are not sick?”
We don’t know why there’s not more positive pressure from our society and the medical community to be well. We understand that some unhealthy people are uncomfortable when others make healthy change. But why wouldn’t the medical community shout from the rooftops, Type 2 diabetes is a man-made disease!
Diabetes is a multi-billion dollar business. We’re not anti-pharmaceuticals—in many cases, medications are lifesavers. We believe in avoiding disease at all costs. Why spend your hard-earned money on pills and medical bills when you don’t have to?
